CHAMP ELECTRONICS -" THE VINTAGE VALVE
SERVICING A CARLSBRO CS100 4 CHANNEL PA AMPLIFIER
I was really, really pleased to have been able to do this one. It is the very first series of Carlsbro PA amps (though there was actually a slightly earlier version which featured a cream-coloured steel front panel and black knobs,
but still the same layout & design) to feature individual bass & treble controls on each channel! This one has the brushed aluminium front panel.
Lovely old beast, and that sticker on the front is an actual Carlsbro stock-number label.
Though it featured the four individual channels, it has two inputs per channel. This being the case it is sometimes referred
to as a CS100/8 PA.
I can remember back in the late 60's
and early 70's that groups were dying to get there hands on one of these. At the time they were the best thing since sliced bread!
The band I was in at the time got one of these when they first came out. I then made a 100 watt identical slave, same size chassis and along with a wooden case made by a friend of mine.....again being the exact size....we (the band) now had a 200 watt PA System.....wow! Other bands were jealous of our 100 watts-a-side PA! I wonder where that slave is now?
I ain't gonna say it again but......what great memories for me on this one!
