SERVICING A FENDER 75 AMPLIFIER HEAD & A FENDER 75 COMBO
1. FENDER 75 AMPLIFIER HEAD:
In for a general good
service, along with a change of both very dodgy power & standby
switches. Infact the power switch was so "iffy", it was constantly
tripping
earth-leakage breakers!!
A nice amp. I had
advised the customer to let me change the Brimar NOS (new old stock)
6L6G's.
Beautiful as these are, the screen grids do not stand the high voltages
that
some Fenders have. I did a deal with him and fitted a lovely pair of
70's
GE's......no more glowing screen grids!
2. FENDER 75 COMBO:
As both the amps belonged to the
same customer it was just as easy to do them both together. Both chassis are shown
side-by-side above; a good idea for "A - B" comparisons & fault finding! I ended
up fitting my last pair (boo-hoo) of beautiful NOS (new old stock) Sylvania
6L6GC's in this one.
