Looks really
cute! Unlike the push-pull pair of 6V6’s in the BR6….this BR9 still uses a pair
of 6V6’s but……as a single-ended paralleled pair……..works great and sounds cool!
The
field-coil type of speaker magnet again, along with another speaker-mounted
output transformer. One point worth mentioning here is that there is a second
small coil which is wound on with the field-coil. This coil is then put in series with
the main speaker coil itself but, out-of-phase. This has a kind of
cancelling-out effect to reduce hum somewhat. Clever stuff!
The main triple HT cap had already been changed on this baby but…….was a bit bodged.
After a rewire
of the HT cap, a good few components and again…..a reworking of the ground line
she was all finished and working really well, lovely old amp!
