Beautiful,
this still has to be one of the best….if not “the
best!” Hi-Fi amps ever designed. They are just so good!
This pair
(though only one is shown in the photos), also belong to James. They
both just needed a good general service/check-over.
There were some HT ripple problems, caused by tired smoothing caps.
Finished. And the two new quad sets of JJ 6L6’s really did them proud!
The new
smoothing caps in place and, small as they look, they are actually
about three times the capacity of the originals! Thank God for modern
day components! They really bring life back into old valve (tube) amps!
I replaced two smaller electrolytic caps further down the HT chain too.
Both amps received the same treatment to keep them a matched pair.
Just check-out at these specifications, and believe me….they certainly do it!
