SERVICING OF A MUSIC ANGEL Hi-Fi AMPLIFIER

Another Chinese Music Angel, this time with 845’s on the output. As with all these Chinese amps……not bad, but always room for improvement! Though, “looks-wise” they are pretty nice.

This one came in constantly blowing the power fuse. It turned out to be main HT diodes having gone short. These amps have a power transformer winding for 220 volt, which is a little low for our 240 volt mains supply here in the UK. Whilst generally not a problem, they do run a little on the hot-side with all voltages being close to the limit on the capacitors!

There is a guy out there on the web who has pulled one of these apart and made a good few modifications/improvements to it. It is quite interesting…..here is the link:-

I shall have to reserve my opinion as to how much this gentleman’s modifications have improved the amp, until one day, when I get the time and chance to have a bash at it myself? It does read well though.
