I have done quite a few of the Custom 100 (DR103) heads and the good news is that they are usually about 98% OK!! These are built like a “brick s**t-house", or a tank! The wiring is always immaculate and laced too. These are actually one of my favourite amps from the era……..you can never go far wrong with one of these! The only slight let-down is that they seem to suffer (like many other amps of the period too) from the swelling of the main smoothing caps with age. Change these (if need be) and a quick spray of all the controls & tube bases will almost certainly bring one of these back to perfect life! Lovely old reliable amps!

Notice how both transformers are “slightly bent-upright” towards the centre of the chassis! This would suggest the dropping of this amp….upside-down at some point in its life? Nevertheless, it didn’t stop it from working and being a great amp!
