CHAMP ELECTRONICS -" THE VINTAGE VALVE
AMP HOSPITAL"
NOTTINGHAM, ENGLAND
SERVICING OF A LANEY 100 SUPER PA
AMPLIFIER
A clean & tidy amp.
Note the Chinese
EL34B’s. (The glass envelope on these is fatter than most of all
the other brands). When these were first produced a few years back they
didn’t get very good reviews, but in later years they do seem to
have “got there act together”. I really like these tubes.
They perform really well! In-fact, I will run this by all you technical
guys out there:
I have an Italian 1960’s Geloso G-292-A amplifier. This runs a
pair of EL34’s @ 1000 volts plate & 375 volts stabilized on
grid two. The output is 100 watts from just the pair! Apart from some
original Mullards, JJ’s and these Chinese EL34B’s do the
job really well in this amp and far better than all the other brands! I
will however leave any “what do they sound like” comments
to all the guitarists out there!
Quite a neat tidy amp, needing very little doing to it other than a good general service.
