This amp came in for the replacement of 2 smashed-off potentiometers and a general service.

The chassis on this model is “U-shaped” with the tubes sticking out at the bottom and the controls on top. They are a pig to take apart as everything has to be removed in order to change the broken pots!!

Everything out!!

The circuit boards are in 3 sections, joined together by “wire links” One has to squeeze these together (like a sandwich) in order to remove them from the chassis. Not the best of designs!

All done and back in the chassis.

Once finished she was managing about 12 watts!? As the 4 x EL84’s were all odd & tired I’m not surprised. There were a pair of Sovtek, one PM & one unbranded! A new matched set of JJ’s soon put things back to rights……..about 33 watts. These are a nice sounding amp. (Please note the new set of JJ’s are not shown in any of the above photos).
