CHAMP ELECTRONICS -" THE VINTAGE VALVE AMP HOSPITAL"
NOTTINGHAM, ENGLAND
SERVICING A SOUND CITY 200 PA PLUS AMPLIFIER

Most 200 watt PA
amps from any manufacturer don't seem to command the same kind of prices as their guitar counterparts,
but a lot of people are now beginning to realise that after just a few minor
modifications they sound bloody great on guitar. In fact, any un-modified PA amp generally really kick's ass on bass guitar as it is anyway!

OK
folks, stop drooling over the GEC KT88's…..two of them were naff anyway! Also, I seriously believe
that the power and output transformers on this one were not Partridge either! Though the choke did have Partridge labelled on it.

One wrong knob on the master
volume, but this did get changed as I still have a few of the correct ones left.

For
once, this specimen didn't actually need any of the smoothing caps changing.....very rare!

Pretty clean and tidy amp with very little needing
doing, other than a good general service, some new output tubes, and a re-bias.

Somebody has added this screening plate between the main smoothing caps and the upper tag board…..Absolutely pointless! This is doing nothing at all,
especially as the part of the tag board being shielded is the splitter/driver section, and this would not be affected by being close to the main smoothing!! I left it in place anyway.
