SERVICING A SOUND CITY CONCORD COMBO AMPLIFIER

Whilst I try and make a point not to repeat exact items on the site, sometimes it is worth doing when there are some slight differences. Another Concord guitar combo here, but this time in the rare, original purple Tolex! I doubt that the front-cloth is original though! But who knows?

All the sliders needed replacing on this amp as they were all really bad! This photo shows the new ones on new mounting ferrules too. These replacement slide-pots are really hard to find nowadays in 250k, 500k, and 1meg Log values……I only have 3 left!

The tired ones, along with the original mounting hardware.

The full-set replaced.

A better "P-clip" anchorage for the power cable.

Everything out for a scrub!

Both Fane drivers were in this condition.

This is the smaller Partridge output transformer that was used on the guitar version (as opposed to the bass combo version). The lamination size is the Imperial 147 pattern.

You can clearly see that the output transformer is noticeably smaller than the power TX.

Speakers cleaned, repaired, and wired neatly now.

The reverb tank is in the box at the bottom of the photo, which is actually the inside of the bottom back panel. With just the two back panels to re-fix, she will then be all finished and ready to go back to the customer…..Another job well-done!
